Megan D. Ferris is a trusted tax advisor to high-net-worth individuals, global families, and multinational enterprises, helping clients navigate the most complex U.S. and international tax challenges.
As both a tax attorney and licensed CPA, Megan D. Ferris brings an integrated perspective to her clients’ most complex tax challenges. Her practice spans international tax planning, corporate transactions, and tax controversies.
Megan’s individual and family practice focuses on global tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth and multinational clients, structuring inbound and outbound investments, ownership of U.S. real estate, and pre-immigration and expatriation planning. In particular, she has deep experience navigating complex U.S. tax reporting issues and voluntary disclosures, regularly achieving favorable results for clients before the IRS and state tax authorities. She also counsels foreign fiduciaries and U.S. beneficiaries of foreign trusts on the taxation and reporting of assets in foreign estates and trust structures.
On the business side, Megan advises corporations and partnerships through every stage of the business life cycle, from structuring and formation to financing, restructuring, and wind-down and exit strategies. For multinational enterprises, she designs efficient cross-border structures and helps clients navigate issues such as treaty application and the various U.S. anti-deferral regimes.
Megan also maintains a strong commitment to pro bono service. She co-drafted a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, pamphlets for homeless youth, and publications for foster care youth.
