After A Successful First Year in Miami, Cole Schotz Unveils New Brickell Office

Just a little more than a year after launching in Miami, Am Law Second Hundred firm Cole Schotz has tripled its footprint with a new office strategically placed in Brickell’s financial district that opens Monday.

Leaders at the New Jersey founded firm said the size of the new office reflects their goals for expansion in Miami’s burgeoning legal market, given the caliber of deals that the firm has been seeing in Miami and an increase in client demand for sophisticated services, Cole Schotz wanted to provide a space for that expansion.

Cole Shotz initially launched in Miami with the addition of three lawyers from the boutique litigation firm Salazar Law, since then, the Miami team has expanded to include four members, one special counsel, two associates and three staff members.

“The firm wanted to be in a location that had really offered everything that you’d expect from a professional services firm and from having an office in the big city … that’s really a place where clients want to be, where they want to visit. It makes it very easy to meet with other professionals, and it’s centrally located, so it has everything they would really offer,” said member Luis Salazar.

Salazar added that “no area is more identified” with Miami’s current “energy and growth” than Brickell.

The new office at 80 S.W. 8th Street, Suite 1900, spans nearly 6,100 square feet and features 14 private offices and three state-of-the-art conference rooms. The firm said it has room for 20 lawyers in Miami, and is planning ahead to “get well down the road to the growth” that it anticipates in the city.

Recent additions to the firm include Megan Ferris, who joins from Am Law Second Hundred firm Day Pitney, and Jennifer Llano, who joins from Am Law 50 firm Holland & Knight.

“I spent a long time building our practice, building the network we have here, building our roots in the legal business community and building a connection with our clients,” Salazar said. “That’s really created a lot of momentum, a lot of renewed energy with our clients because they were craving additional legal services, and with everyone that we’re adding to the group—we’ve added corporate, international tax, and others on the way—It’s opening new opportunities for others to join us.”
