Krista Kulp is a special counsel in the Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring and Litigation Departments.
Ms. Kulp represents businesses in commercial litigation and disputes at the trial and appellate levels and brings a distinctive combination of litigation and bankruptcy experience to her practice. She regularly appears in federal and state courts and has experience across all stages of litigation, from initial pleadings and discovery through trial and appeal. Her work spans complex civil and bankruptcy-related matters, including creditors’ rights, Chapter 11 investigations on behalf of debtors and special committees, committee representations, and post-confirmation litigation.
Ms. Kulp has been involved in high-stakes restructuring and insolvency disputes, including investigations into potential claims and causes of action against directors, officers, and other parties. Her work on behalf of special committees and debtors often involves analyzing complex financial and transactional issues and developing practical, results-oriented strategies for resolution.
She has taken key roles in drafting and arguing motions, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, facilitating settlements, and advocating for clients in court. Ms. Kulp also integrates technology, eDiscovery, and project management principles into her practice to streamline case management, enhance efficiency, and deliver value-driven results for her clients.
Ms. Kulp serves as co-chair of the Membership Committee of the Business Bankruptcy Committee for the American Bar Association and she formerly served as Editor-in-Chief of the e-newsletter for the Business Bankruptcy Committee. Through the Business Bankruptcy Committee, she participated in panel discussions and webinars and has authored and prepared written materials relating to bankruptcy issues. She co-authored the fourth chapter of Reorganizing Failing Business, 3rd Ed., 2017 and the eighth chapter of Guide for In-House Counsel: Practical Resource to Cutting-Edge Issues, 1st Ed., 2019 both published by the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. She has also been published in the New York Law Journal and the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. She also served as the Communications Co-Chair for IWIRC-NY, Editor for the Business Reorganization Committee of ABI, and the Program Chair for the Bankruptcy Study & Policy Committee of the ABA.
