Matteo Percontino, is a Member of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Department and has more than 14 years of experience in bankruptcy matters, including related litigation.
Matteo is an experienced restructuring attorney who advises clients in federal, state, and out-of-court restructuring proceedings. His practice focuses on all aspects of restructuring and distressed businesses, including chapter 11 debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, bankruptcy trustees, litigants, and other stakeholders.
Matteo has experience guiding debtors through chapter 11 reorganizations and chapter 7 liquidations across various industries, including health care, retail, real estate, manufacturing, and hospitality. In addition, he has represented clients in asserting creditors’ rights, protecting executory contract interests, negotiating critical vendor agreements, and purchasers of assets.
He has also represented bankruptcy litigants in various contested proceedings, including, among others, lift stay motions, claim objections, preference actions, fraudulent transfer actions, and non-dischargeability actions.
Prior to joining Cole Schotz, Matteo was an associate in-house counsel for a national accounting firm. He also co-authored an article published in the American Bankruptcy Trustee Journal titled “Get Your Priorities Straight! The Conflict Between Bankruptcy Code Sections 364(c) and 726(b).”
He previously interned for the Honorable Novalyn L. Winfield, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Jersey.
