The Gender Equity Project: Removing Barriers for Women in the Law

Despite remarkable progress, including entering law school and the legal profession at high rates, women lawyers continue to face significant hurdles in advancement, compensation, and career satisfaction which results in them leaving the profession. This panel will explore the persistent challenges encountered by women attorneys in New Jersey across all sectors — private firms, in-house, government, public interest, academia, and the judiciary. Attendees will gain insights into a cutting-edge project by the Gender Equity Project: Gender Equity Study: New Jersey Women in Law, which was founded through the Rutgers Law School International Human Rights Clinic. The panel will discuss effective strategies and actionable solutions to support women lawyers, reduce attrition, and promote meaningful change.
