NY Objects To Rite Aid Bid To Close More Stores

The state of New York asked a New Jersey bankruptcy judge Wednesday to keep two Rite Aid stores in Buffalo and Poughkeepsie, New York, out of the list of stores slated for closure in the pharmacy chain’s Chapter 11 case, saying the closures would reduce pharmacy access for people in those communities. In a three-page objection, the Office of the New York State Attorney General alleged Rite Aid Corp. has failed to explain its method for identifying locations to be shuttered and that it is unclear whether the impact on local communities was properly weighed in the decision-making process.
The debtors are represented by Michael D. Sirota, Warren A. Usatine, Felice R. Yudkin and Seth Van Aalten.
