Cole Schotz Adds Litigator From Delaware Boutique
Cole Schotz PC has added a litigator in Delaware from Wilmington-based Seitz Van Ogtrop & Green PA to expand its capacity to advise clients in commercial, bankruptcy, intellectual property and construction matters. James S. Green Jr. has joined Cole Schotz as a member in its litigation department, the national firm announced Monday.
“I am delighted to be joining Cole Schotz and eager to start working with such talented attorneys,” Green said in a statement Monday. “The firm has an excellent reputation and demonstrated consistent success in litigation, and I look forward to working alongside the litigation team to deliver outstanding client service.”
In addition to its reputation, Green told Law360 Pulse on Wednesday that he was drawn to the firm by its national reach and the opportunity to draw on its resources and the expertise of its bench in serving his clients.
“I was drawn to Cole Schotz, first and foremost, because of the people here,” he said. The firm has a “forward-thinking” and “entrepreneurial” culture that he found attractive, he added.
“I looked hard for the right fit,” and Cole Schotz was it, Green said of his decision to join its Wilmington office. His hiring brings the roster at the office to 17, according to the firm’s website.
Green also said he is excited to join the firm as it gets ready to celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and he looks forward to helping it continue to grow in the Delaware market, including expanding its Chancery Court practice.
His entire career has been spent in Delaware, he said, calling the First State’s legal community “second to none.”
In his practice, Green represents corporations, shareholders, creditors, and other clients in commercial, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and construction litigation, Cole Schotz said.
He handles litigation in the Chancery Court, the Complex Commercial Litigation Division of Delaware’s Superior Court and in the state’s district court and bankruptcy court, the announcement said.
Among his recent case work, he was one of the attorneys who represented Laurus Labs Ltd. and Cipla Ltd. in patent infringement litigation in Delaware federal court with Gilead Sciences Inc. over generic forms of the HIV treatment Biktarvy. In a filing last month, Gilead said it agreed to keep generic forms of the treatment off the market until 2036 per settlements with Laurus, Cipla and another competitor.
Before making the move to Cole Schotz, Green had been at Delaware firm Seitz Van Ogtrop & Green for more than five years. He said he made the move to Seitz Van Ogtrop & Green after 16 years at Landis Rath & Cobb LLP, another Delaware-based firm, to get the chance to work with his father.
