Retired NJ Superior Court Judge Returns To Cole Schotz
Cole Schotz P.C. announced Thursday that it has welcomed back Thomas J. LaConte after his 20-year tenure as a judge on New Jersey’s Superior Court to enhance its alternative dispute resolution and litigation support services.
The former judge rejoins Cole Schotz as of counsel based in its Hackensack office, after having worked at the firm for more than 30 years before his time on the bench, the national firm said.
“It was an honor to serve the state of New Jersey in my capacity as a judge for the past two decades,” LaConte said in a statement. “I can think of no better next step for this phase of my career than to return to the law firm where I first began my practice. I am thrilled to once again work alongside my Cole Schotz colleagues to carry on the firm’s history of excellence through my work on ADR matters.”
LaConte served on Superior Court in Passaic County vicinage, presiding over civil trials, hearings and other proceedings, the announcement said. He served on short-term recall for the court and continued to handle matters until June, according to a court notice.
In his practice, LaConte will focus on mediating and arbitrating various types of civil disputes, including construction litigation, corporate and commercial disputes, contractual issues, and matters that involve local governments, the firm said.
