Jewish Bar Association of NJ to Install Six Board Members and New President

The Jewish Bar Association of New Jersey (JBAR) will add six new members to its existing board of directors at an event on Thursday, May 28 in West Orange. More than 100 attendees are expected.

JBAR, the first Jewish legal group of its kind in the state, advocates for Jewish causes, for the rule of law and on behalf of Israel among both the legal community and the general public, the group said.

New president, Avi Kelin, a partner with PEM Law in West Orange, will address the group after he is sworn in by Paul Vichness, a former New Jersey Superior Court judge, now Of Counsel with Mandelbaum Barrett, P.C.

“As part of our inaugural team, I am immensely proud of the progress we have made over the past two years, and look forward to continuing to build on that momentum during my tenure,” stated Kelin.

JBAR’s inaugural president, Joseph Lemkin, will continue his board of director role as past president, alongside the other inaugural board members: Edward Dauber, a partner with Chiesa Shahinian and Giantomasi; Ameya Pendse, Law Office of Ameya Pendse LLC; and Victoria Rivkin, owner of 3G Talent Advisors. Also Eliana Baer, a partner with Fox Rothschild, who serves as president-elect; Nancy Isaacson, a partner with Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, who serves as Secretary; and Jason Sobel, a partner with Sills Cummis & Gross PC, who serves as treasurer. Susan Wernick, chief marketing officer of Bederson LLP, and David Rosenberg, executive director of the New Jersey Business Alliance, serve as co-executive directors and non-voting Board members of JBAR.

The six new board members being installed on May 28 will serve a two-year term. They include:

  • Heather Weine Brochin, a partner with Day Pitney
  • Jacob Davidson, managing partner with Falk, Flotteron and Davidson
  • Jason Navarino, a partner with McCarter and English
  • Sasha Pezenik, an associate with Cole Schotz
  • Cory Rothbort, a member with Mazie Slater, Katz Freemen,
  • David Stein, a shareholder with Wilentz, Goldman and Spitzer
