Cole Schotz P.C. announces today the arrival of member Megan B. Kilzy, former chief of the Financial Crimes Unit in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, to the firm’s Litigation department and White Collar Criminal Defense & Government Investigations group.

Based in Hackensack, Ms. Kilzy will advise individuals and corporations on a wide range of matters related to complex litigation matters, criminal and civil investigations and regulatory inquiries. Ms. Kilzy had served as an assistant prosecutor in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office since 2016 and previously worked as an assistant prosecutor for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Megan is an outstanding attorney and seasoned trial lawyer who has dedicated much of her career to litigating and overseeing high-stakes matters as a prosecutor,” said Michael S. Weinstein, chair of the firm’s white collar group. “Her extensive experience on criminal prosecutions in and outside of the courtroom adds significant depth to our practice and the guidance we offer to our clients in New Jersey and nationally.”

Ms. Kilzy will counsel clients on matters ranging from allegations of corporate and bank fraud to government inquiries and internal investigations. She will draw from her experience in public service collaborating with federal agencies, financial institutions and businesses as part of complex investigations.

“I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Bergen and Hudson counties as an assistant prosecutor for the past 14 years,” Ms. Kilzy said. “In considering private practice, I was immediately drawn to the talented former government prosecutors at Cole Schotz and the high-caliber work they execute on behalf of their clients.”

In addition to serving as chief of the Financial Crimes Unit in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Ms. Kilzy worked as both a trial section supervisor and a line AP for the SVU unit in Bergen County and in the appellate and trial divisions in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Earlier in her career she served as law clerk to Hon. Barry P. Sarkisian in the Civil Trial Division of New Jersey Superior Court.

Ms. Kilzy is a member of the bar in New Jersey and New York. She earned her J.D. from Roger Williams School of Law where she was Moot Court President, and her B.A. from Wellesley College.
