Cole Schotz Announces Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Billable Hour Credit Policy

Cole Schotz P.C. is pleased to announce an expanded billable hour credit policy as a means of recognizing those at the firm making contributions to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). The DEIB billable hour credit policy expands beyond the firm’s attorneys and includes all timekeepers within Cole Schotz.

Examples of activities that will be eligible for billable credit include, but are not limited to, mentoring law students from diverse backgrounds, partnering with area law schools in support of DEIB initiatives and partnering with local and/or affinity bar associations in furtherance of DEIB endeavors through membership and/or leadership in such organizations.

“Our DEIB billable credit policy is another step in our journey in bolstering the robust diversity efforts of the firm,” said Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer James Lewis. “This policy will advance our core values of diversity, equity and inclusion and recognize the team’s efforts in advancing this initiative.”

The policy was issued and made effective on October 18, 2022. The firm encourages all timekeepers to devote at least 25 hours per year to DEIB activities, although there is no formal annual maximum. More details about Cole Schotz’s diversity and inclusion efforts can be seen on the firm’s diversity and inclusion page .
