Cole Schotz P.C. is pleased to announce University of Miami law student Nicole Azarian as the recipient of the firm’s 2023 Diversity Scholarship.

Each year, Cole Schotz recognizes the achievements of a rising second-year, full-time law student by presenting a one-time scholarship. In recognition of the firm’s 10th year of providing the scholarship, the scholarship amount has been increased to $10,000.  Candidates are considered based on their demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession, academic achievement, and involvement in community service.

Ms. Azarian serves as a legal intern at the University of Miami Human Rights Clinic, has held law clerk positions in Florida and Los Angeles, and has volunteered with the Florida Pro Bono Law School Challenge and Chainless Change, a nonprofit that helps individuals in South Florida who have been impacted by the criminal legal system. An Armenian American, Ms. Azarian aspires to represent women from Armenia, as well as women in the legal profession generally.

“We are honored to extend this scholarship to Nicole in recognition of her academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to promoting social justice and human rights globally” said James A. Lewis, V, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Cole Schotz. “She admirably demonstrates a passion for advancing social justice through her studies, volunteer work, and internship experience, including with the University of Miami Human Rights Clinic.”

Ms. Azarian graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in women’s and gender studies. She is currently earning her JD from the University of Miami School of Law.

Cole Schotz is committed to the advancement of diversity in the legal profession. In addition to the Cole Schotz Diversity Scholarship, the firm also collaborates with law schools, non-profit corporations, and public agencies to promote inclusiveness and diversity in the legal profession.
