Cole Schotz Announces Recipient of 2018 Diversity Scholarship

Cole Schotz P.C. is pleased to announce Sarah Hong as the recipient of the firm’s 2018 Diversity Scholarship. The award was presented to Ms. Hong, a student at Columbia Law School, on September 24, 2018.

The one-time $5,000 scholarship is presented to a rising second-year, full-time law student. Candidates are considered based on their demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession, academic achievement, and involvement in community service.

“Sarah is extremely well-qualified to receive this year’s scholarship. She is a proven leader in promoting diversity, has achieved academic success, and will be a talented attorney,” said Wendy Berger, co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and member of the Real Estate Department. “In making our selection, we were particularly impressed with her interest in working with marginalized communities.”

Ms. Hong graduated from Northwestern University and then participated in a research fellowship in China under the U.S. Fulbright Program. In law, her main areas of interest are public defense, human rights, housing/tenants’ rights, and public interest law.

Cole Schotz is committed to the advancement of diversity in the legal profession. In addition to the award of the Cole Schotz Diversity Scholarship, the firm works with the New Jersey Law Firm Group, a non-profit corporation made up of law firms, law schools, and public agencies, to promote inclusiveness and diversity in the legal profession, and supports attorney involvement in various minority bar associations.
