Shira is an associate in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring Department. She has represented chapter 11 debtors, secured creditors, creditor’s committees, and other interested parties. In addition to her bankruptcy practice, Shira has considerable civil litigation experience, having represented secured creditors and title companies in both state and federal courts in New York and Connecticut. Although a born and bred New Yorker, Shira enjoys coming to work in Cole Schotz’s Headquarters in New Jersey.

Before joining Cole Schotz, Shira clerked for the Honorable Ann M. Nevins, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut. As a Law Clerk, she assisted in the administration and disposition of Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases, a majority of which were held over Zoom. Prior to her bankruptcy court clerkship, Shira worked as a litigation associate in a large New Jersey based law firm.

Shira graduated from Fordham University School of Law, and earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Barnard College. While in law school, Shira gained valuable experience interning in a variety of positions, including as a judicial intern for the Honorable Jose L. Linares, former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, a student extern in the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York- Civil Division, and as a student attorney in Fordham’s Criminal Defense Clinic.
