Ram Shastri is an attorney who specializes in the areas of domestic and international tax, estate and gift tax, and trust and estates.
Experience
He advises domestic and international high net worth individuals and families and closely held businesses in the implementation of tax efficient strategies. Specifically, he counsels clients in the implementation of strategies and structures for the investment in U.S. and foreign assets, advises clients on income tax issues associated with individuals, trusts, and business entities, assists clients on the formation and operation of various business entities, the implementation of structures and strategies to reduce estate and gift tax liability for individuals, advises individuals, trusts, and businesses on their tax reporting and compliance obligations, and advises clients on asset protection strategies. He also has significant experience drafting various types of irrevocable trusts, revocable trusts, wills, advanced directives, as well as advising clients and fiduciaries in the administration of trust and estates. Finally, he advises and assists clients in estate and trust litigation matters and tax litigation matters with the IRS.
Mr. Shastri is admitted to practice law in the states of Florida and Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He is also actively involved with the Financial Planning Association of Miami, where he serves as a board member, serves as the Chair of International Practice Group, and gives presentations on various international tax and estate planning issues. He also is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Miami, the Florida Tax Bar Section, and the Florida Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Bar Section, and the Miami Dade Legal Aid Put Something Back Program where he assists indigent clients in their probate and estate planning matters.
