Paul W. Kim, JD, MPH, is the Chair of the Healthcare Group and the Privacy Officer for Cole Schotz P.C. He has a uniquely comprehensive understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, having worked for Legal Aid representing patients, a national MCO / PPO, a state Medicaid agency, and the federal Medicare Program. At CMS, he drafted Medicare regulations and policies regarding reimbursement, coding, coverage, and enrollment.
Paul has worked with clients in every sector of the healthcare industry in all aspects of healthcare law, except malpractice and FDA matters. Paul’s practice is as diverse as his clients, ranging from transactions to litigation. He counsels clients to ensure corporate compliance with the mandates issued by CMS, OIG, and OCR. He also represents clients with overpayments and fraud and abuse issues in audits, investigations, appeals, and qui tams. In addition, he works with other law firms as an expert witness.
Paul served as the President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Maryland (2006-2007) and was elected to the Health Law Section Steering Committee for the District of Columbia Bar (2006-2009). In addition, he was appointed to the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau’s Equal Justice Council (2006-2007) and the Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center’s Board of Directors (2007-2010). Consequently, Paul was inducted as a Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Maryland Bar Foundation.
