Jacob Frumkin is a member in the firm’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Department.  He represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors and other parties-in-interest in various aspects of bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings.

Jacob’s recent representations include:

  • Twelve debtors that own or operate, as applicable, eleven senior housing facilities throughout Texas in their Chapter 11 cases
  • An administrative agent on behalf of the senior bank lenders to a toll road concession in connection with the out-of-court restructuring of the project’s debt and equity
  • A creditor (committee chair) holding both secured and unsecured claims in the bankruptcy proceedings of a manufacturing conglomerate
  • A committee of foreign creditors in the multi-national bankruptcy proceedings of a telecommunications company
  • A commercial real estate finance company in connection with the restructuring of its low income housing tax credit business
  • An equipment rental company with over seventy locations in its Chapter 11 case culminating in confirmation of a consensual plan of reorganization, providing for equity holders to retain 100% of the capital stock in the reorganized entity and paying all creditors the full principal amount of their allowed claims
  • A purchaser of intellectual property assets from an assignee for the benefit of creditors
  • A foreign liquidator in a Chapter 15 case recognizing a creditors’ voluntary liquidation in the United Kingdom as a foreign main proceeding
  • Multiple continuing care retirement communities in Chapter 11 cases culminating in confirmed plans of reorganization

Prior to joining Cole Schotz, Jacob was a restructuring and finance associate at DLA Piper LLP (US) and a Special Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York.

Jacob graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2009, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Journal of Law and Policy.  During law school, Jacob was a Lloyd F. MacMahon Fellow at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and a judicial intern for the Honorable Henry Pitman, Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York.

Jacob is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the American Bar Association.
