The recently adopted Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) program is emerging as a trans-formative federal economic development tool that could improve the outcomes of distressed communities around the country. Through the QOZ program, investors can inject capital into low-income communities and promote long-term economic growth in designated QOZs through a variety of investment vehicles. Investors will receive significant tax benefits. This program will explore how to assist your clients in effectively navigating Opportunity Zones, using this tax incentive to spur investment in low-income areas, and identifying potential tax benefits.

Topics will include:

Overview of QOZ program
Discussion of investment vehicles and Qualified Opportunity Funds
Summary of recently released QOZ regulations
Review of potential investor tax benefits including deferral and/or elimination of tax for capital gains and potential elimination of tax on the appreciation on a QOZ investment
