June 21, 2018Attorneys: Steven M. Saraisky, Philip R. Hirschfeld and Chelsea E. Hunter
Program Description:
A non-US person investing in US real estate or other US assets raises a host of income and transfer tax and reporting concerns. This program will explore those issues and possible ownership structures to reduce or eliminate adverse tax results. Special concerns under FIRPTA, possible withholding taxes, and estate and gift tax exposure will be explored. Use of intermediate investment vehicles to own such assets (such as US or foreign blocker corporations) as well as related party debt will be considered in order to reduce these tax burdens. The impact of recent tax law changes will permeate the entire program.
