Michael Leighton concentrates his practice in real estate and corporate finance. His practice includes counseling real estate developers and investors, real estate investment trusts, lenders, insurance companies, securities dealers, investment advisors and syndicators. He has recently represented national and publicly held companies in the purchase of real estate across the country.

Mr. Leighton practiced with New York City law firms from 1980 through 1988. He joined Cole Schotz in 1989.

Mr. Leighton has lectured before various groups.

Mr. Leighton was invited by industry members to join the American Bar Association's committee in formation for the hotel and hospitality industry.

Noteworthy

Mr. Leighton has been awarded an AV rating for his professionalism and the quality of his legal work from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals.  He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in the prestigious 2007 Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate Law.
