Stuart Komrower has been with the firm since 1987 and has been a member of Cole Schotz’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring Department since 1993. He concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, debtor-creditor issues and insolvency-related commercial litigation. He has extensive experience in representing debtors, creditors, trustees, creditors’ committees and litigants before the state, federal and bankruptcy courts in numerous jurisdictions, and has confirmed Chapter 11 plans on behalf of debtors, trustees and committees. As counsel for private funds, lenders and factors, his practice includes, in addition to debtor and committee representation, a concentration in secured asset recoveries, debtor-in possession financing, Section 363 sales and dispositions under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
Mr. Komrower led Cole Schotz’s team in the representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the successful Chapter 11 case of First Interregional Advisors Corp., one of the largest cases filed at the time in the District of New Jersey with creditor claims aggregating nearly $200 million. He was responsible for the representation of creditors’ committees in numerous other cases including the retailers Accessory Place and Krauszer’s Convenience Stores, a major toy manufacturer, Eden, LLC and the broker-dealer, Heartland Securities. Mr. Komrower has extensive experience in prosecuting and defending complex and substantial fraudulent transfer and other avoidance claims under the Bankruptcy Code and state law, including acting as conflicts litigation counsel for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Parmalat Chapter 11 case in the Southern District of New York and as debtor’s counsel in the case of Burke Industries, a leading aerospace and defense contractor.
Before entering private practice, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Felix A. Martino, Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division.
Mr. Komrower has lectured on bankruptcy and debtor-creditor related topics for various organizations, including the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the National Association of Credit Managers and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has successfully served as a mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court Mediation Program, a Master in the Bankruptcy Inn of Court Program and Chairman of the District III New Jersey Supreme Court, Attorney Fee Arbitration and Ethics Panel.

Mr. Komrower has been awarded an AV rating for his professionalism and the quality of his legal work from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals. He has also been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by his peers in the bankruptcy and work-out field in New Jersey Monthly magazine.

Among Mr. Komrower's numerous published articles on bankruptcy topics are the chapter on "Bankruptcy" for West's New Jersey Practice series; "The Bankruptcy Reform Act: Increased Challenges for Single Asset Real Estate Cases" in the Real Estate Finance Journal; “Debtor Indemnification of a Financial Adviser for Its Negligence Is Reasonable”, New Jersey Law Journal, and a host of other articles in the New Jersey Law Journal, the Bergen Barrister and other publications.
