Ilana Volkov concentrates her practice in the areas of insolvency law, corporate reorganization, debtor-creditor relations, and bankruptcy litigation. She represents Chapter 11 debtors, unsecured creditors' committees, secured and unsecured creditors, commercial landlords, purchasers of assets, shareholders, and other parties-in-interest.

She also is a contributing author to the New Jersey practice series on New Jersey insolvency law, published by The West Group. Ms. Volkov has been involved in preparing and updating bankruptcy publications for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and has participated as a panelist and moderator on several seminars sponsored by the Institute, as well as by other organizations. Ms. Volkov also served as a master in and a member of the Executive Board of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Inn of Court.

Born in Riga, Latvia, Ms. Volkov is fluent in Russian.

Noteworthy

Ms. Volkov has been awarded an AV rating for her professionalism and the quality of her legal work from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals.  She also has been selected by her peers as a New Jersey Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy Transactions.

In August 2002, Ms. Volkov was selected by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of the top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 to watch for the next decade. In 2006, she was selected by Legal Services of New Jersey and the New Jersey State Bar Association to receive an Equal Justice Medal for her pro bono efforts on behalf of low-income clients.
