Robert Dowd's practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation, construction litigation including bond and lien claims, employment litigation including wrongful termination claims and negotiating employment separation agreements, business and contract disputes, construction commercial collections and consumer fraud litigation. He has been involved in matters in the state and federal courts in New Jersey at the trial level, in appellate courts in New Jersey, in the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as in the state and federal courts in New York and Massachusetts, and the state court in Louisiana (appearing pro hac vice).
Mr. Dowd has participated in numerous trials in both the Chancery and Law Divisions in the New Jersey Superior Courts, with several resulting in six-figure settlements or judgments in favor of his clients. He has also participated in numerous appeals in federal and state courts.
Mr. Dowd has lectured on the subject of construction and municipal lien claims and other contractor and subcontractor remedies in New Jersey for the National Business Institute (NBI).
From 1990 until the firm's merger with Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, P.A. in 2005, Mr. Dowd was a founding member of Sternlieb & Dowd, L.L.C.
