Susan C. Karp is a member of the firm's Environmental Department with seventeen years of experience counseling clients on a broad array of environmental matters, including brownfield redevelopment, contaminated site remediation, ISRA compliance and cost recovery. Her clients appreciate her straightforward and practical approach to resolving environmental issues in transactional and regulatory settings and her ability to add value to the deals and cleanups she handles.
Ms. Karp assists clients in evaluating remedial options and associated cleanup costs involved with environmental compliance. She provides due diligence counseling in evaluating environmental conditions and liabilities related to the acquisition and disposition of industrial and commercial real properties. Susan also counsels clients on available avenues of environmental cost recovery, including general liability insurance.
Ms. Karp is well practiced in identifying and pursuing grants, loans and other financial incentives applicable to cleanups and redevelopment projects. She has pursued numerous Redevelopment Agreements with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and cleanup grants through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection under which clients have qualified for substantial reimbursements of cleanup costs.
Noteworthy
Ms. Karp is a Director of Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Women of New Jersey (ICREW NJ) and is serving her second term as ICREW NJ's Director of Philanthropy.
She also sits on the Regulatory Affairs Committee of the New Jersey chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association NAIOP where she tracks important regulatory developments in environmental law and authors comments to proposed regulations on behalf of the organization.
She is also very active in the NJ Bar Association's ISRA committee which evaluates developments under NJ's Industrial Site Recovery Act and other environmental laws.
