Steven Klein has an extensive civil litigation practice that emphasizes complex commercial and corporate litigation in the state and federal trial and appellate courts. He also focuses his practice in the areas of chancery and real estate litigation for private and public companies and in significant arbitration matters. He also has been appointed by the courts in major shareholder and partnership disputes and corporate and partnership dissolutions to serve as special fiscal agent, special officer, provisional director, and custodial and/or liquidating receiver. Mr. Klein has successfully represented clients in numerous significant reported decisions. Among his litigation accomplishments, he served as special litigation counsel for the New Jersey Insurance Commissioner in the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company rehabilitation proceedings. Mr. Klein is admitted to practice before the Superior Court of New Jersey, United States District Court, District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit..
Mr. Klein joined Cole Schotz upon graduation from Duke Law School and became a member of the firm in 1987. He currently serves as the administrative chair of the firm’s Litigation Department and chair of the Hiring Committee.
Mr. Klein has served as an adjunct professor teaching legal research and writing at the Seton Hall University School of Law and has taught business law as an adjunct professor at the Seton Hall University School of Business. He also has lectured for various professional and civic organizations.

Mr. Klein has been awarded an AV rating for his professionalism and the quality of his legal work from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals. He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America in Commercial Litigation (2005-2007) and as a New Jersey Super Lawyer in Business Litigation (2005-2007).
