Michael Sternlieb is a member of the firm's Real Estate and Corporate Departments, and also chairs the firm's Construction Services Department.
Mr. Sternlieb’s practice concentrates on the negotiation and drafting of construction, construction management and design agreements; the negotiation of construction contract disputes; public bidding and bidding qualification issues; the acquisition, sale, exchange and leasing of industrial, office and commercial properties; real estate and construction finance; work-outs and restructurings; real estate brokerage law; outdoor advertising (billboard) law; real estate and construction joint ventures; mergers and acquisitions of construction, construction materials, real estate, real estate brokerage and outdoor advertising businesses; franchising law; and counseling non-profit organizations.
Mr. Sternlieb's clients rely on his negotiating abilities and on his advice in structuring a wide variety of business transactions. He acts as primary legal counsel for a number of companies, high net worth individuals and families.
He was formerly the senior member of Sternlieb & Dowd, LLC, which merged its practice with Cole Schotz in 2005.
Mr. Sternlieb is a Vice President and Trustee of the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, and a member of the North American Board of Trustees of the Union for Reform Judaism, as well as the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey-West Hudson Valley Council of the Union for Reform Judaism.
Noteworthy
Mr. Sternlieb has been awarded an AV rating for his professionalism and the quality of his legal work from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate Law, 2007-2012. He has also been selected by New York magazine as one of the New York Area's Best Lawyers in Real Estate Law.
